Sundried tomato, pesto, spinach, & feta pizza!
We found Polar!!! And we didn’t have to drive to Miami to find it, thanks to our friend Trevin who works at Total Wine in Winter Park. Not the mini cans, but still delicious.
Steak pitas with Italian salad! Marinated the steaks in olive oil, red wine vinegar, garlic, rosemary, & Montreal Steak Seasoning and grilled them on the Foreman and stuffed them into pitas with homemade tsadziki sauce. Dat yum.
# 89 :: Eggplant Parm from No. 7 Sub, $9
STUFF INSIDE: fried eggplant, pureed yellow squash, fontina, pickled jalapeno, bbq potato chips
Probably one of the more surprising sandwiches I’ve had. In a good way. Fried eggplant was super-crispy without the hint of grease. Plus you can tell it was eggplant instead of tasting like the oil it was fried in. Truth is the squash didn’t come thru as much as the jalapeno or the bbq potato chips did. But I guess it provided the sauce to keep the sandwich moist. The chips was what made this sandwich. Added that extra crispiness and hint of smoke. Which come to think of it doesn’t really make me think “Eggplant Parm”. So maybe this sandwich fails in that respect. Maybe they should just re-name it. Like Eggplant and Potato Chip sandwich. Genius! They can pay me in sandwiches.
Isn’t this a Zucchini Parm? In any case, I want to eat it immediately.
Tonight’s dinner: honey ginger salad, leftover breakfast potatoes from brunch this morning at The Refinery, and mini dijon swiss burgers!
PS- We tried Polar beer while spending New Year weekend in Miami and it’s AMAZING. Apparently it’s only available in Miami-Dade county in the states but if you get a chance to try it you really should. Way better than cheap American beers (although High Life still has a place in my heart.)
It’s been WAY too long since we’ve updated and I’m sorry! Here’s some yummy things we’ve made over the past few months.
1.) The best snack EVER. Alexia brand waffle sweet potato fries, topped with red curry maple syrup, bleu cheese crumbles, & bacon.
2 & 3.) Beer-battered fish sandwiches with arugula & tartar sauce, served with homemade potato wedges (we used Cigar City Brewery’s Maduro Brown Ale)
4.) Tomato garlic salsa: 2 diced tomatoes, 2 cloves of garlic, sriracha, and lime juice served with homemade chips
We will be posting lots of photos, recipes, and VIDEOS (!) soon!
